Why your employees need health and safety training
Blimey! where so you start for the reason that you need to train your staff?
Let’s start with the fact that it’s important to let your team know exactly how a job should be done safely and that your company takes safety seriously. It shows that you have their welfare and safety as a priority, and if you don’t train people it can cause people to think that you simply don’t care, so why should they?
Our consultancy offers IOSH Managing Safely, but we mainly focus on bespoke training solutions. In other words, we realise that standard health and safety training packages might not suit every company and their teams. We’ve worked with a multitude of companies to help them create health and safety training that is suited to their company and culture.
Liz our Director has been in the Health and Safety industry for 17 years and started off designing health and safety inductions for hotels. In hotels, the workforce is a range of cultures, there are many different levels of peoples’ English skills and also the level of understanding and experience in their role.
Also, Liz realised that the majority of safety training provided was super boring, and it was the time that it was livened up and made more relevant for companies.
Originally, Liz trained as an animator, and as well as getting the serious points of health and safety across she likes to add an element of humour too.
Recently we produced an animated induction for one of our clients. The main character even bears a resemblance to the manager- check it out below.
Training is our favourite thing to do, and we believe that safety starts with changing minds.
